March 19th, 2023. UMC Scripture and Sermon, my thoughts.
Service today at First United Methodist Church Blue Springs, was just what I needed. I’m fortunate that many of the monthly topics and sermons, have been a positive and a meaningful view that feels like it connects to what’s happening in my life. It’s calming to know I’m finding what helps ease my heartache through grief and becoming the spiritually enlightened person I’ve always wanted to be.
13 Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks from the water that I will give will never be thirsty again. The water that I give will become in those who drink it a spring of water that bubbles up into eternal life."
15 The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I will never be thirsty and will never need to come here to draw water!"”
This was a message I needed to hear, as it connected to what was happening in this person’s life.
Three takeaways from todays service that were mentioned.
1, Listen to your hunger and thirst.
2, Following Jesus leads to community.
3, Leave the bucket behind.
So what these three things say to me is: To listen to your instincts, what do you need more of in your life, what do you need less of in your life? That having a community around you, be that through spirituality, religion, helps create your support, and can help you with inner growth as a person. And to leave behind what is not serving you. This does not mean a sudden and drastic change, it could simply means to let go of worry or uncertainty, and move forward. For me this is myself finding my spiritual peace, and being there more for others, and paying attention to my own needs.
Whatever path you are on, may this be something to reflect on and take to heart. Feel free to read more around today’s scripture if you’d like. It’s an interesting story actually.
Hope you have a peaceful week. Namaste.
